Vale youth emulate the first team
Kidsgrove Athletic 0 Port Vale Youth 3
The Vale youth team emulated their senior side with a comfortable 3-0 victory at Kidsgrove Athletic in a game played over three half hour periods.
Taylor Attrell shot wide following a corner in the 11th minute as Vale dominated early on and they took an 18th minute lead. A good cross from the right by James Gibbons was bundled home by Brian Barton despite the challenge of a defender.
Attrell again went close having a strong shot tipped over before Vale doubled their lead in the 31st minute. A cross from the right was headed down by Alex Morris and Tom Ashton lashed the ball home. Callum Ferrie made a good save in a rare Kidsgrove attack whilst at the other end Ben Fraser had a header well saved.
Vale scored again in the 62nd minute when a clever through ball saw Mike Conlon hammer the ball into the net. First year apprentice Mike Calverley had a promising game in midfield.
