Foley: ‘It’s A Huge Test’

Port Vale midfielder Sam Foley says Saturday’s pre-season friendly against Getafe will be a test individually and as a team.

The Valiants face the La Liga outfit in their fifth practice match of the summer following wins over Newcastle Town, Alsager Town, Kidsgrove Athletic and Notts County.

Foley, who joined the club last month from Yeovil Town, believes his teammates will relish the opportunity to come up against some of the best in the business.

Speaking exclusively to Valiant PlayerHD in the lead-up to the match, the 28-year-old said it should be an enjoyable afternoon for everyone involved.

“It’s a huge test, massive test,” he said. “The first couple of games were against non-league, amateur sides so we weren’t really tested as much.

“It was good to get out and get combinations and try that attacking play we’re trying to establish with the players we’ve got.

“Then we stepped it up against Notts County and it was going to be tested a little bit and I think we came through it really well.

“Saturday, Getafe obviously are going to be a different test altogether. Although I think the boys are looking forward to the game, the occasion but also to play against those players.

“These are players that have played against Real Madrid and Barcelona and that will be a test individually as well as a team.”
