Manager Speaks To Valiant Player Ahead Of Oakwell Visit
- Vale travel to face Barnsley at Oakwell on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.
- Page won his first match in caretaker charge of the club against the Tykes.
- The 40-year-old wants to come back from Yorkshire with a similar result.
Port Vale boss Rob Page has fond memories of his first win in caretaker charge of the club against Barnsley and is after a repeat result this weekend at Oakwell.
The 40-year-old led the Valiants to a 2-1 triumph over the Tykes in September on the back of a six game losing streak as Mark Marshall scored the winner at Vale Park.
Since then, Page has been given the role of manager on a permanent basis and has taken his side from the relegation zone to the cusp of the Sky Bet League One play-off places.
Speaking exclusively to Valiant Player, the Vale boss reminisced about the victory over Barnsley four months ago but insisted he is expecting a tough test on Saturday.
βIt was a great day. I think Marshy has done a little jig on the right hand side, come in on his left foot and got a late winner for us,β Page said.
βA tough game, we expect the same going away from home but great memories from that day and hopefully we can recreate that same atmosphere and same feeling at the end of the game.β
