Veteran Speaks To Press Ahead Of Oakwell Visit
- The Valiants travel to face Barnsley tomorrow, kick-off 3pm.
- Rob Page's side hoping to get back to winning ways at Oakwell.
- Brown hoping poor weather doesn't play a part in game.
Michael Brown believes Port Vale need to dust themselves down from last weekend’s defeat to Crewe Alexandra and embark a new run of positive results, starting with the trip to Barnsley on Saturday.
The Valiants currently sit 12th in Sky Bet League One ahead of the visit to Oakwell and, speaking to the press before the game, Brown said that the team can be proud of recent performances, despite the derby defeat.
“We’ve done well of late," he said. "I think we’re not to get too frustrated that we haven’t reached the dizzy heights of sixth.
"We’ve got to realise the position we were in, we’ve had some good results and we’ve managed to get within touching distance and we’ve got to try and sustain that.
“However far we can go, so be it, but we’ve got to try and pick ourselves up and try and get a result at Barnsley.”
The 38-year-old is also refusing to be carried away by any talk of a play-off push, insisting the team’s focus is on Saturday’s game.
“We’ve got to just concentrate on Barnsley and the coming games,” he said.
“Pagey’s come in and had a great reaction from the boys and we’ve got to sustain that progression until the end of the season.
“You expect a response for sure but I think you’ve got to go out and do the right things and set the right tempo every game."
