YATES ON HOME FORM

Defender explains why League One suits Vale better at home

Defender Adam Yates believes Tranmere Rovers have the experience in their squad to help them in their fight against the drop this season.

He expects them to do as a lot of sides have tended to do when they have come to Vale Park this season – that is to attack and go for the win.

Up to now, generally speaking, that has suited Vale better and the home form has improved on that seen in the lower division.

Speaking about Tranmere, Yates said: “They have got goals all over the team. We have looked at their team and they have got experienced player who can cause you problems.

“I think when you are down towards the bottom of the league you need those experienced players in the dressing room.

“They will breed confidence with the younger lads and make them believe they are in a situation they can get out of.

“I am pretty sure that Tranmere have got enough in their squad to get out of it, they can certainly be a tough team to break down at times and I think they will come here thinking a point won’t be enough.

“In my time here we have struggled at home before this season and have been better away from home and I think when teams have come here, especially when we were in League Two, they have looked at the big changing room, the big pitch, the big stand and they fancy it.

“Teams have come here with the intentions of taking a point, because we were a big club in League Two, but this season teams are coming here to take all three points.

“Because we are a team just promoted from League Two, teams have come here this season and have played an open game, which suits us better.”
