Vale reserves ended their League Cup campaign with a victory over Doncaster Rovers on the Bycars training pitches but failed to progress in the competition after finishing behind Leicester City in the group stages.

Myrie-Williams cut in from the right and hit a shot wide of the far post as Vale began to dominate. Doncaster did threaten when Liam Wakefield broke into the box but was halted by a superb tackle by Ryan Lloyd who had a good game in the unfamiliar role of left back.
A 25 yard shot by Myrie-Williams went wide and Wilson Carvalho had a low shot saved as Vale sought a third goal. Chris Birchall was the next to try his luck with a shot from the edge of the box that cleared the bar as Vale ran out comfortable winners.
