Micky Adams has his players well prepared for Saturday’s game against Gillingham and knows a bit about Saturday’s opponents having watched them first hand recently.

Gillingham are never easy to play against and the Vale boss was impressed with what he saw when Peter Taylor’s side took on league leaders Brentford.

He said: “I watched their game against Brentford and I thought they played particularly well in difficult conditions.

“They had a few chances and Cody McDonald looks like he has regained his form and big Akenfenwa when he came on looked a big handful, as he always does.

“They were a bit unfortunate that they didn’t get anything out of their last game against Brentford, but they have had a little bit of rest and recuperation and I am sure they will be ready for us.

“They have got decent players and I think they showed that last season, that they have got decent players.

“They have perhaps not had the season that they thought they were going to have, but we don’t underestimate them.
