Players hand out gifts to the UHNS

17 December 2013

Port Vale players today visited the Childrens Ward!

Today Port Vale team mates took a trip the Children’s ward at The University Hospital of North Staffordshire.

Amongst the players was Captain Doug Loft who described the visit as a fulfilling one, “It is important to visit all of the Children at the hospital and to bring them some joy around this time of year.

“I'm sure they are all thinking of more exciting situations to be in and as a parent myself I understand how important it is to keep the Children’s spirits high.

“Me and a few of my team mates requested this visit following our previous visit to the Hospital. I'm sure many more would have loved to have come but we didn't want to be too overwhelming within the ward.

“It's so special to all of us that we get to give the children presents and bring a smile to their faces.

Tom Pope, Louis Dodds, Richard Duff and Chris Birchall also visited the hospital with the early Christmas Presents. The players had photos taken with the Children and signed autographs.

Port Vale joined together today with Lyndsay Parr from the Frankies fight committee and Ally Simcock from Port Vale Supporters Club and gifts were donated from the supporters and the club.

Port Vale would like to say a big thank you to all the supporters who donated gifts and made this day possible.

UHNS Charity Deputy Manager Emma Robertson said, “We can’t thank the players and the supporters club enough for today.

“The children were delighted to see them and to get a gift too was an extra treat! I think Boomer will sleep well tonight he had a very busy afternoon entertaining everyone!’
