Angus: “Goals, pace, work rate – that’s me.”

3 January 2018

Dior Angus became Neil Aspin’s first signing of the January transfer window after putting pen to paper on an 18-month contract on Monday.

Angus spoke exclusively to the Club following his arrival about the chance he has been given: “I’m buzzing for the opportunity, to make the transition from non-league to the Football League – I can’t wait.

“It’s hard work playing non-league, but now my life is dedicated to football. That’s work, if you like.

“I can’t wait to improve myself, get out there and hopefully score some goals.”

The 23-year old was training with the club prior to signing, knowing that the deal was to go ahead as soon as the transfer window opened, and has got know the lads since before the New Year: “They’re a good group, a really good group. The management staff are good, training is good and all the lads have a good attitude. So there is no doubt that we will keep winning games.”

Transition to life in Burslem may not be as daunting as first perceived for the striker, though: “I knew Marcus, we have known each other since we were kids playing from the Coventry days.

“I just can’t wait to get going,” he added.

Further, the striker was quick to praise his new club as he looked on over the Vale Park pitch: “Sitting here now looking at the ground it is an unbelievable stadium and they have a good fan base as well.”

Angus was the 19th man in the squad that travelled to Notts County on New Years Day and enjoyed his first taste of a Football League match day: “I enjoyed it. Notts County is one of the nicest grounds in the league so it is a good first one to be involved in.

“I take it all in my stride really, and once I’m out there it makes no difference.”

Vale fans will be pleased to hear that he is ready and raring to go and willing to give his all to the chance he has been given as he described his own game: “Goals, pace, work rate – that’s me.”
