Page Has Seen Progress This Season

22 April 2016

Port Vale boss Rob Page feels his side has made some important strides this season.

With three games left to play the Valiants are 12th in the League One table with 62 points from 43 games.

This time last season they were in a relegation battle that went down to penultimate match of the campaign.

Speaking to Valiant PlayerHD ahead of this weekend’s clash with Rochdale, the manager said he has seen progress this term.

“We’re midtable at the minute, if we finish in the top half [it would show progress],” he said.

“We wanted an improvement on last year. To finish where we did last year having fought relegation twice took a lot out of the lads.

“So with the work we’ve done in the summer by bringing new staff and the players that we wanted to bring in I think we’ve shown already that we’ve made an improvement.

“There were a lot of questions asked about where the goal would come from, there was a lot of doom and gloom.

“I think Doddsy has more than stepped up to the plate, he’s been a different player this season.

“We’ve had others step up in Sam Foley and Oakes and Ajay with his 13 goals has been the outstanding candidate so far for that top goal-scoring spot.

“I’ve seen a lot of improvements and a lot of positives from the season.”
