On the appointment of David Dunn, manager Darrell Clarke said: “I’m really pleased to have got David into the club; I wanted an experienced coach to come in and he’s just that.

“He’s been a manager and a top player in his career, I’ve met him a few times after games, and I’ve always enjoyed speaking with him.

“He’s so knowledgeable about football and he’s a real good asset to bring in as part of my coaching team.”

Speaking about the arrival of Carlo Nash, Clarke said: “I like to always try and keep things fresh, and we saw the opportunity to bring Carlo in, he’s very experienced and brings innovative methods and ideas into training.

“Carlo is very ‘new school’ and he’s another really good acquisition for us as we continue to build and prepare for the upcoming season.”

On the duo’s start to life at Vale Park, Clarke continued: “The pair of them have already settled in fantastically, but we knew that would be the case because we always make sure to do our homework on who we bring into the football club.

“They’re a couple of great assets and they help us keep moving forward.”
