Spotlight on the Opposition | Hartlepool United

14 April 2022

We take on Hartlepool tomorrow afternoon. Let's take a look at our opposition before Good Friday's fixture

In the Dugout

Graeme Lee began his coaching career at Middlesbrough under 23s in 2019. But left his position in December 2021 to take over the job at Hartlepool

Man with the Armband

33-year-old Nicky Featherstone is captain of the Pools. He spent his youth career at Hull City and went onto make eight appearances for Hull. Whilst there he went on loan to North Ferriby United, Grimsby Town and Hereford United who he later signed permanently for. He would later go on to play for Walsall, Scunthorpe United, Harrogate Town and now Hartlepool.

This season the midfielder has made 45 appearances, scoring four with three assists and six yellows in all competitions. He also picked up a red card in a 0-0 draw away to Exeter City. His last goal came in late January at home to Stevenage where he scored a second-half equaliser.

Star Man

Timi Odusina spent his youth career at Norwich City but never made a professional appearance for them. He went out on loan to AFC Fylde in 2019 before joining Hartlepool on loan a year later and signed for the club permanently at the start of the 2020/21 season.

Odusina has played every minute for the club since the 1st of December in a 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday in the Papa John’s Trophy. The defender made his EFL debut in August in a 1-0 win over Crawley Town.

Top Scorer

Luke Molyneux is the Monkey Hangers top scorer with 12 goals. His last goal came against Mansfield Town in a 2-2 draw at home. The midfielder was stretchered off in the fixture and has missed Hartlepool’s last two games so he is a doubt for tomorrow’s game.

Last time out and recent form

Hartlepool have lost two, drawn two and won once in their last five games. The two defeats were both 2-0 score lines against Northampton Town and Salford City. They got a big 3-2 win over promotion chasing Newport County. They got a draw against Mansfield but in their last game they travelled to the league leaders Forest Green Rovers.

After a quiet first half Forest Green took the lead through Regan Hendry in the 53rd minute. With their only shot on target in the game, on 69 minutes Omar Bogle equalised for the visitors as they nicked a point on the road.
