Vale are in Checkatrade Trophy Third Round action on Tuesday night as they host Shrewsbury Town at Vale Park, and Eddie Ilderton has been confirmed as the referee by the EFL.
He has only taken charge of four fixtures so far during the 2018/19 campaign, with two of those coming in Sky Bet League Two and the other half of them being Sky Bet League One matches.
During the 2017/18 season he did referee 30 games, however, including the Valiants' home defeat to Accrington Stanley back in September 2017.
His assistants on Tuesday night will be Nik Barnard and Gareth Mellor, whilst Christopher Sarginson will take up the role of fourth official.
