Sky Bet League Two fixtures 2018/19

Port Vale's 2018/19 Sky Bet League Two fixtures have been revealed by the EFL, and Neil Aspin's men will kick the campaign off with a home fixture against Cambridge United on Saturday 4th August.

Vale will then travel to Essex the following Saturday where they will take on Colchester United in their first away game of the season.

The penultimate weekend of the season sees newly promoted Macclesfield Town make the short trip to Burslem, before we round things up with a trip to Bury on Saturday 4th May.

Here are a list of key dates for your diary:

Saturday 4th August 2018 - Vale v Cambridge United (H)

We start the season with a clash versus the U's on home soil, and the last time the two sides met at Vale Park, a brace from Cristian Montano inspired the Valiants to secure a 2-0 victory.

Saturday 11th August 2018 - Colchester United v Vale (A)

A trip south is in store for the first away fixture of the new season, with Aspin and his team pitted against Colchester United at the Weston Homes Community Stadium. Our last game there ended in a 1-1 draw, Marcus Harness scoring Vale's goal back in December 2017.

Saturday 22nd September 2018 - Crewe Alexandra v Vale (A)

Following last season's dramatic draw at Gresty Road, Vale do not have to wait long to return. Antony Kay scored his side's 'goal of the season' during the encounter last season, and the rivalry will resume just seven weeks into the new campaign.

Wednesday 26th December 2018 - Vale v Grimsby Town (H)

The festive period is always a busy time in the footballing calender, and the Valiants have been handed a home fixture on Boxing Day, with Grimsby Town the opponents at Vale Park.

Tuesday 1st January 2019 - Lincoln City v Vale (A)

2019 begins with a trip to Sincil Bank as Danny Cowley's Lincoln City await. The Imps reached the play-offs during 2017/18, but Vale will be hoping to replicate the home success they had against Lincoln last term.

Saturday 6th April 2019 - Vale v Crewe Alexandra (H)

Vale will be seeking revenge following defeat to David Artell's men last time they came to Burslem, and the Railwaymen will provide our first opponents of April.

Saturday 27th April 2019 - Vale v Macclesfield Town (H)

Following Macclesfield winning promotion back to the English Football League last season, the two sides will face off for the first time at Vale Park since 2012. Vale claimed all three points on that occasion, and they will be hoping for the same result in their final home game of 2018/19.

Saturday 4th May 2019 - Bury v Vale (A)

The campaign rounds off with a journey to Gigg Lane, a ground last visited in January 2017 when Vale earned a 2-2 draw. The Valiants will be hoping to go one better this time around, however, and end with three points on the road.
