PREVIEW: Port Vale vs Swindon Town

27 October 2017

Fixture: Port Vale vs Swindon Town

Date: 28th October 2017

Venue: Vale Park

Competition: Sky Bet League Two

Preview

Vale go into their clash with Swindon Town in high spirits having won three games in succession, being the only team outside of the current top two teams to come away from St. James' Park victorious.

Neil Aspin’s side also kept their second clean sheet in succession on Saturday afternoon and they will be looking to build on that versus the Robins.

The Opposition

Swindon Town also found themselves facing the drop from League One last year, along with Vale, Chesterfield and Coventry City.

The Robins currently occupy the final play-off spot but inconsistency has crept in to their previous five results.

With a win in their previous fixture, Swindon will be looking to add to that and establish themselves firmly within the play-off places.

Talk

Neil Aspin: “Our job is always to make sure that the players are ready for every game”.

“You can never legislate the result or what will happen in the game but, we will be prepared and have a plan to try and implement.

“It’s down to the players to try and do it but nobody will give us anything so we will have to work exceptionally hard in every game if we want to get results.”

David Flitcroft: “Neil has been a manager for a lot of games and did a fantastic job at Halifax. Being in the north, I was close to that, and saw what Neil did there.”

“I think Port Vale have been down the foreign route before and it’s not worked so it’s great to see them looking for an English manager who has done well in non-league and deserves his chance to step into a big football club.”

Team News

Vale remain without long-term absentees Rob Lainton and Kjell Knops whilst Anton Forrester returned midweek for the reserves, but won't feature at the weekend. Cristian Montano got 30 more minutes under his belt last weekend against Exeter Ciy.
