BBC Radio Stoke Secure Vale Commentary

1 August 2017

BBC Radio Stoke has announced they will be providing full match commentary for all Port Vale games this season. The radio station has renewed its partnership with the Burslem-based club meaning listeners can tune in for all of the club’s home and away matches. It's a historic moment as BBC Radio Stoke approaches their 50th birthday next year.

Vale fans will be able to hear and be involved with all the action and excitement across the season whenever and wherever Port Vale play.

Fans will also be centre stage with the return of BBC Radio Stoke's giant football phone-in "Praise & Grumble" every Friday night from 6pm.

As well as commentary on radio, this new deal means that fans around the world - or local fans on their holidays - will be able to access commentary by visiting the Port Vale website at https://www.port-vale.co.uk/ on their tablet or smart phones.

Port Vale Chief Executive Colin Garlick said: “On behalf of Port Vale Football Club I am delighted that we will be continuing our excellent relationship with BBC Radio Stoke into a 50th year. It is a milestone year for BBC Stoke who play an important part, like ourselves, in the local community. I am looking forward to an exciting and entertaining season and as BBC Stoke celebrate their 50th anniversary, that we too are celebrating with them, with promotion at the end of the season”.

BBC Radio Stoke Editor Andrew Bowman said "I'm absolutely thrilled that BBC Radio Stoke is working with Port Vale again, it's great news for Vale fans everywhere"

BBC Radio Stoke Port Vale reporter Lee Blakeman said “It’s a brilliant achievement for the radio station to be covering Port Vale for a 50th consecutive season. I hope the passion, enjoyment and thrill of the match days is enjoyed by our listeners as much as it is by us, as a sports team. I’m sure fans are in for another roller coaster of a campaign in season number 50 on BBC Radio Stoke.”
