Bruno Ribeiro Looks Ahead to Remaining Christmas Fixtures

14 December 2016

Port Vale welcomed back their ex-boss in Rob Page last weekend as Northampton Town visited Vale Park.

Two goals late on for the visitors saw them snatch all three points from the fixture, despite Vale having the better of possession.

Vale boss Bruno Ribeiro spoke exclusively to Valiant PlayerHD after the game about the sort of risks he has to be prepared to make: “When you take some risks it is normal when you are losing two one. You put more players upfront, but unfortunately they went on to score their second and their third.

Ribeiro is prepared to take these risks, because of the confidence he has in his goalkeeper: “For me Jak is still the best goal keeper in this division. But we need to take these risks when were are in losing positions, and I am prepared to do so with Jak in goal because he is brilliant for us.”

Rigino Cicilia scored his fifth goal in six games late on in the fixture, something that is not going unnoticed by his manager: “He works hard, and is still scoring. Unfortunately we need more because of the injuries we have to key players, because we just have Cicilia fit.”

He continued: “We play what players we have available at this moment, and I put the best 11 out that I can every game. I am happy with every player at the moment, just disappointed from conceding from set pieces.”

With three crucial games still to come over the Christmas period, Ribeiro expects nothing less than three wins from three: “We will try to win these three games and get all nine points to get into the top six again.

“I am very ambitious and want to finish in the top six. The players are still working very hard until the end of the season, and hopefully we will finish in the top six.”
