Congratulations to Port Vale winger Sam Kelly who has been named in the Football League Paper’s Team of the Week for Sky Bet League One.
The 22-year-old scored once, his first senior goal, and set up another in the Valiants’ 3-2 win over Chesterfield on Saturday afternoon.
Kelly joined the club during the summer but hadn’t featured since August prior to the meeting with Dean Saunders’ side.
When referencing why the midfielder had been included in the Team of the Week, the Football League Paper commented: “Port Vale edged passed Chesterfield United in a thrilling encounter at Vale Park. Kelly opened the scoring after just five minutes when he threaded a daisy cutter to the right of the diving Tommy Lee.”
