Defender already having thoughts regarding extending his loan deal

Despite being on the bench for Saturday’s game against Yeovil Town, Remie Streete didn’t get an opportunity to show the Vale faithful what he is all about, but the young defender is prepared to bide his time.

He joined Vale last week on an initial month’s loan from Newcastle United, but is already looking forward and is hoping he will be here until after Christmas.

Rob Page has sat the 19-year-old defender down and has explained the situation to him and he is more than prepared to be patient and await his opportunity.

Page said: “He’s a great kid and he absolutely loves it here. The training is a little bit different for him after training with a Premier League club day in and day out and coming down to our level.

“But we do things the right way - he has noticed that and appreciates that and he has been nothing but positive since he has been here.

The defender told local press earlier today that once his month’s loan is up he would like to extend it to January if at all possible, something welcomed by Page.

He said: You want good players in and around your squad, with the right character and temperament, and he has certainly got that – he ticks all the boxes.

“It is nice to hear that from the lad’s point of view, that he is enjoying it and wants to extend it. He understands that he has got to be patient regarding to game time.

“He is definitely one that is going to have a bright future in the game and we are just happy that we can use him for what he is at the moment.”
