The highly rated, 19-year-old defender put pen to paper on a short-term deal with the Valiants on Thursday having impressed in the Magpies’ youth ranks.

The youngster scored twice for the U21s in a 2-1 win over Arsenal last month with Vale chairman Norman Smurthwaite and interim manager Rob Page in attendance.

Speaking exclusively to Valiant Player, Streete admitted that having Smurthwaite and Page at the game was an important factor in his decision to sign for Vale.

“There were a few clubs at that game and a few clubs at the games before,” he said.

“I mean every game there are teams coming to watch [me] but like I said Port Vale showed the most interest and with the chairman coming to watch that was a big thing for me to come and sign here.”
