A fan's view of things Port Vale

It’s an important few days in Vale land with trips to the leaders Brentford and then a cup tie at Plymouth on Tuesday. Brentford are on a hell of a run with 13 wins out of 15, but they will slip up soon and there is no reason to think it won’t be against us. We haven’t drawn away yet this season, and I think that tomorrow will be the day. Get your money on it and send 10% of your winnings to me for the tip.

We deserved nothing last week against Plymouth, but the tie is far from over. They are still a division below us and we have been playing well away from home. We just need to play how we usually do away from home and I think that will be enough to prevail. Plymouth may have missed their chance, let’s hope so! It wasn’t a stellar draw if we do get through, but Brighton are nothing to be scared of. They made eight changes in the last round, so if they did that again we would have more than half a chance of beating them.

It is good that we have brought a loan player in, our first of the season, and good luck to Fulham’s Jack Grimmer whilst he is with us. With injuries we are down to the bare bones as regards the back four and Jack, along with the returning Joe Davis, should be able to cover any more casualties.
