Yates looking for a win

Sentiment doesn't come in to it for former Crewe man

Vale defender Adam Yates spent a few years with Crewe Alexandra but on Saturday all of that will be forgotten and he will have only one thing on his mind.

Despite wanting his old side to survive in League One, he will be doing everything he can to help Vale to a win on Saturday and nothing short of a Port vale win will do.

there for many years and them coming here after we got a good result there earlier on in the season adds a lot of extra spice to it. He said: “I played

“They are having to find points thick and fast and I am sure that they are going to come here and have a right go and that can only set us up for another fantastic game at Vale Park.

“We need as many fans as we can get on Saturday to intimidate the team and to get us going.

“I am surprised they are struggling because they are a good team. Sometimes people think they overplay but I know through having played them earlier in the season, they certainly dug in and they gave us a little bit back.

“That certainly isn’t reflective of the Crew teams over the years – after that game I thought there would be no problem with them staying up.

“But they look like they are going to be dragged into it and we have got to make sure if they are there to be beaten on Saturday we have got to go out there and punish them and I am sure that every Vale fan that you ask would want that.

“You can’t have any sympathy with them and I am sure if the tables were turned they wouldn’t have any for us and I don’t think there are a lot of players in that dressing room who have faced relegation battles before.

“Some of the young lads and Crewe might not have and for Crewe’s sake you have got to hope they have got enough there to drag themselves around.”
