Who is YOUR Player of the Year?

May.thAs we move into the last third of the season, with still a lot to play for I might add, thoughts already turn to who might be the Player of the Year, an award that will be presented at a glittering occasion on Sunday 4

A lot can change yet of course, but an early contender must be defender Carl Dickinson. Having been a Stoke player may have put him under a bit more pressure than any other new player, but that soon wore off within minutes of him pulling a Vale shirt on. His attitude has been superb as he has never given less than 100% in every game he has played with a determination to do his very best for the Vale cause.

You won’t find many tougher left backs in this division and his performances have undoubtedly helped us into the top half of the table with one eye on the play offs. His own personal tragedy last month, when his mother sadly died, was understandably a body blow, but he had many tweets and e-mails from the fans and responded by once again giving his all in the first team.

He has soon become a cult hero at the Vale and hopefully his contract will be extended at the end of the current campaign.

Other players have also done well, in particular Chris Lines and skipper Doug Loft and it remains to be seen if the next 17 games changes anyone’s opinion.
