Ben Williamson Pleased With Opener Against Sheffield United

Striker Speaks To Valiant Player After Win

  • Forward scored opening goal against Blades
  • Flicked ball through legs of goalkeeper
  • Williamson now looking ahead to Swindon game

Port Vale striker Ben Williamson was delighted to score the opening goal against Sheffield United in the 2-1 win on Boxing Day.

The 26-year-old was on hand to flick the ball through the legs of Blades goalkeeper Mark Howard and into the net in the first half while Dany N’Guessan later added a second from the penalty spot.

The goal was Williamson’s first since he netted against MK Dons in the FA Cup first round at Vale Park at the start of November.

Speaking exclusively to Valiant Player after the win over Sheffield United, the forward said he is now hoping to hit a rich vein of form.

“I haven’t scored for a while now. I didn’t put in a great performance today but I scored but maybe that’s the way it’s going to go,” he said.

“It was nice to get on the score sheet again and hopefully that will be the start of things to come.”
