Earlier today we exclusively announced the captain for the 2014-15 as defender, Carl Dickinson and the combative left back couldn’t hide his pride at Micky Adams putting his trust in him.
“I’m over the moon, the gaffer told me this morning and I’ve had a smile on my face ever since. It’s an honour to be named captain, and I want to do everything I can to be the best captain I can be.
“There was a group of us in the running for it, and to be honest it could have gone to any of us.
“It’s going to be a really good feeling walking out this Saturday, knowing that I get to lead my team out.
“I don’t really know what to say to be honest, I’m really happy and really proud, I can’t wait to get going.”
Dickinson feels that he has to lead from the front and be a role model to the younger players in the squad as the new team captain, and will be looking forward to all aspects of the job.
“I’ll do everything I can to make sure the lads are fired up and raring to go for the match on Saturday and I think we’ll do well.
“I think you can see the team spirit here is fantastic, and my job being captain is to make sure we keep that throughout the season, especially when it comes to the young lads in the squad.
`’We’ve got some good young lads here and they need to feel part of it, and it’s my job to make sure they are.”
