Micky hoping to rally his troops for Friday's game

Vale boss Micky Adams wasn’t too happy following his side’s defeat at the New York Stadium on Easter Monday, and believes his side could have got something from the game.

“I think if anything disappointed me today it was our forward play, particularly in the second half. I thought that we lacked that cutting edge, dwelt on the ball when there was better options for us.

“Jordan Hugill started another game today and I was a real sterling effort from him but he was really, really tired and you could see that in his game.

“The one thing he needs to work on is his fitness, but he has had more minutes on the pitch and he will learn from the experience, as will a lot of the youngsters.

“We have got a game on Friday, we have got to rally the troops and we will have an injury count-up and see what sort of side we can put out against Sheffield United.”
