All you need to know about our Valiant Player service

Valiant Player is Port Vale’s premium subscription service for supporters to get loads of additional exclusive content from the club.  It is available all over the world – so whether you’re in Burslem or Brisbane, there’s no need to miss a moment.
What kind of content does Valiant Player provide?
On Valiant Player, you can expect to find:
• Live, digital-quality audio match commentary for every Port Vale first-team game
• Extended match highlights from first-team games
• Press conference interviews with the manager, assistant manager and players before matches
• Post-match interviews and match reaction
• Loads more exclusive content!

How can I use Valiant Player?
You can get Valiant Player content through your computer at www.player.port-vale.co.uk, or on your phone through the Football League Official Clubs’ app.
On the Football League Official Clubs' app, simply select ‘Port Vale’ as your favourite team for instant access to your Valiant Player account.

How reliable is the live audio commentary service on Valiant Player?
Thanks to excellent support from the Football League and BBC Radio Stoke and performance monitoring, we are delighted that the service has been regularly broadcasting without fault.  We continue to monitor the performance of the service to deal with any problems as and when they arise.
Please be aware that problems can arise at the user’s end during match commentary.
Please go to http://www.player.port-vale.co.uk/help for information on how to optimise experience and prevent avoidable dropouts of commentary.  
The three main reasons why users may experience avoidable problems are slow computer hardware, old versions of web browsers, and poor internet connectivity. 
If you experience a connection dropout during a game and you have reason to believe that it is a central problem – rather than a performance issue with your own hardware – then please contact technicalsupport@performgroup.com and we will investigate problems as soon as possible.

Is there a delay to audio commentary?
Commentary is delayed by around 40 seconds. This is in order to cache the data, so that there are minimal issues with buffering of the audio stream and resultant dropouts.
A completely ‘live’ service would be extremely prone to stoppages, which create an extremely frustrating experience for the user.  
Therefore the slight delay to the service is intended to prevent such issues from arising, without having significant delay that stops the commentary from feeling ‘live’.
Please be aware that social media will often result in instantaneous goal-alerts, so it might be advisable to avoid Facebook and Twitter during matches if you wish to avoid knowing about goals before you hear about them.

Does the commentary work on mobile devices?
Using the latest versions of the app, commentary should work as normal on mobile devices on matchdays, so you can listen to live digital-quality audio commentary from wherever you are in the world.
However please be aware that, like any live audio streaming on mobile devices, Valiant Player will be affected if you have poor signal from your mobile service provider or if your handset is busy using other apps.  Therefore please be wary of these user-controlled factors when using the service.

How much does Valiant Player cost?
We have a range of subscription options, but at its cheapest Valiant Player is available for just 10p per day.
So for less than £1 per week, you get tons of content at a great rate.
