Vale aware of threat

19 September 2013

Wilson and Clarke likely to cause problems for Valiants

Vale are expecting another big crowd this Saturday as the Valiants take on in-form Coventry City, who have already overturned a ten-point deduction to climb out of the bottom four.

Vale’s Assistant Manager Mark Grew says he and boss Micky Adams are well aware of Coventry’s strengths and knows Vale must be on their toes.

Vale will go into the game in a confident mood after a narrow defeat at Brisbane Road, when they looked like they would be the first side this season to take points off leaders Leyton Orient.

Grew said: “The gaffer has gone to watch them in their last two homes games at Northampton and they have been outstanding.

“The front two, Callum Wilson and Leon Clarke have been fantastic and the gaffer says they are going to cause problems.

“They got another good result on Sunday against Gillingham and they are on fire. If they hadn’t got those ten points deducted they would have been right there in the top seven.

“We know that they are a good side. I think what has happened is a bit like what happened with us last season.

“Everybody is joining as a unit and they are all pulling in the same direction - at the minute they are a big threat to everyone they play.”

If you are coming to the match, make sure you get to Vale Park early as we are expecting another bumper crowd this weekend.
