Return to Bramall Lane

Former Owl is looking forward to the weekend

Chris Lines is looking forward to a return to Sheffield this weekend, albeit to the red side of the city after going to Bramall Lane as a Sheffield Wednesday player.

The former Owl admits he has had plenty of stick when he has played there in the past, but he is looking forward to a repeat performance onSaturday.

He said: “I got loads of stick there in the season when we (Sheffield Wednesday) pipped them to promotion and I played there last year for MK Dons and there were a few boos, so I am sure I will get a bit more stick on Saturday.

“They are in a bit of a false position at the moment when you look at the team they have got, and obviously the fan base.

“I said the same about Bristol City a couple of weeks ago, but that is what this league is like, anyone can beat anyone and obviously we got there on Saturday with confidence.

“They are down there for a reason, they are obviously not doing something right, but we will go into the game in a positive frame of mind. We have been playing really well lately, so we have just got to carry that on.

“If they have a new manager by the weekend it can give everybody a bit of a boost. We don’t know what has gone on there, whether the lads weren’t getting on with the previous manager.

“Sometimes when the results aren’t going well sometimes a manager can lose the dressing room and when a new manager comes in, as a player you are buzzing because it is a fresh start.

“You see teams when they get a new manager suddenly start picking up for a couple of results then it sort of evens up.

“We have got to make sure we worry about ourselves and not about Sheffield United, we have just got to go there and play our own game.

“It is a tough one – on one hand they are bottom of the league, but then it is Sheffield United and there will probably be about a fifteen thousand crowd.

“But sometimes that makes you play better. It’s not often you go to an away game in this league and there is a big crowd there, and I am looking forward to it.”
