Vale go nap over in Ireland as Ben Williamson hits a hat-trick

Vale racked up the goals once again as they went nap against Bray Wanderers in the final game in Ireland, recording their fourth win to date.

They did, however, concede for the first time in four pre-season games, but a total of 25 goals scored will keep the confidence sky high.

Vale went in at half time holding a narrow advantage, but five minutes into the second half Ben Williamson netted the first of his treble to double the lead.

Lines grabbed Vale’s third after receiving a square-ball from Tom Pope, slipping the ball into the net with a simple finish from 6 yards.

Williamson made it 4-0 before the home side pulled a goal back - the first time the Vale defence has been breached in four outings.

Williamson restored Vale’s four-goal advantage when he completed his hat-trick to wrap up another comfortable victory for Micky Adams’ men.

Vale face their toughest pre-season test yet when they take on Nigel Clough’s Derby County on Tuesday evening, kick off 7.30pm.
