"STICK TOGETHER" SAYS DEFENDER

4 April 2013

Darren Purse says we just need to keep picking up points

Darren Purse says the team need to stick together in the final five games of the season if they are to achieve their aims, but says a defeat at home to Burton Albion on Saturday wouldn’t be the end of the world.

“We just need to keep picking up points. We are at that stage of the season where there are going to be teams that are fighting for their lives and they are going to be picking up points of people.” said the Vale defender.

“It’s a matter of just keep things ticking over now. We are three games unbeaten after the sticky patch that we had, so we just need to keep building.

“We have got two home games coming up now and if we can get two good results from them, hopefully we will be a lot closer to the winning line.

“There are still five games to go and I would take losing against Burton and winning the next four and getting promoted.

“It’s not a massive, massive game, but if we can get the wins under our belts sooner, rather than later, it will make it a bit easier over the next few games.

“We need to just stick together. We are on a good little run now with two massive home games coming up and if we do that, next Tuesday we will be a lot closer to promotion and where we want to be.”
