WINGER LOOKING TO REPAY THE MANAGER

14 September 2012

Ashley Vincent says we are not going to Plymouth just for the trip

Despite the Club being in administration, Vale will make the trip to Plymouth this afternoon – thanks to the help of the administrators – and prepare in a professional manner for Saturday’s game at Home Park.

Winger Ashley Vincent, who hit his first goal for the Club in last weekend’s 6-2 win over promotion favourites Rotherham United is in no doubt about the importance of such preparation.

He said: “To travel to Plymouth away from here on the day would be a tough ask, so the fact that the gaffer is being so professional is a big factor.

“We have to go and repay him – and the administrators – for getting that done, buy making sure our performance warrants us travelling the previous day.

“We need to show everybody we are not there just to play the game, we are there to get some points.

Nobody is getting carried away with anything yet, despite being up there in third spot, but there is a confidence I the camp that suggests it just might be our year if everything runs smoothly regarding keeping the whole squad available.

He continued: “It may be very early on in the season, but it is always better looking down than up, but it is only five games gone. If we are still there after thirty games then we will be in with a chance.

“We are playing well and if we can steer clear of injuries and suspensions, because the squad isn’t the biggest, and if we can still be up there after Christmas then maybe we will have a chance.
