MATCH PREVIEW ROTHERHAM

7 September 2012

A look ahead to Saturday's BIG match

The Millers’ visit to Vale Park on Saturday afternoon could easily be described as the ‘Match of the Day’ in League Two, with the two sides each having a decent start to the season.

Vale have lost just the one match so far – a 2-0 defeat at Accrington when Vale had enough of the second half to win two matches.

Vale suffered a heavy defeat to the Millers on New Year’s Day 2011 – their first match after the departure to Sheffield United of manager Micky Adams.

Since that embarrassing defeat at the Don Valley Stadium, the two sides have met three times, Vale winning all three of them.

In the corresponding fixture here at Vale Park last season, a first half brace from Marc Richards was enough to earn Vale all three points.

There will be no Marc Richards on the pitch on Saturday of course, but Micky Adams will be going into the game in a confident mood, especially after the midweek display against League One leaders Tranmere Rovers.
