Midfielder hoping to get the nod for tonight

Midfielder Sam Morsy is back in contention for selection for tonight’s game at the Pirelli Stadium after serving a one-match suspension and says he intends to be just a little bit more careful from now on.

He said: “I was a bit frustrated not to be out there, but I still supported the lads and it was a great victory for us.

“I missed out after picking up five bookings and I know that part of my game is something I have got to curb a bit.

“You are the only one who is going to be punished and I think a few of them could have been avoided. I will learn from it and hopefully not pick up the next five as quick.

“There is good competition for places in the midfield and that is always a good thing because that will always push you. Everyone is doing well so it’s a good dilemma for the manager.

“There is a great air of confidence around the place, but it is still very early days and nobody is getting too excited, but while we are winning everyone is confident and everyone wants to do well.

“The games are coming thick and fast but that’s how we want it. When you are winning and doing well everyone is enjoying it. We have two tough away games coming up and it will be interesting to see how we do.”

The first of those two away games is of course away to Burton Albion, to where Vale will take a massive following, making I feel like a home game.

The fans can make a huge difference to the team when they get behind the lads, something that Sam acknowledges.

He commented: “It is going to be brilliant. It gives everybody a lift and that can really push us on seeing how many fans have made the short journey and I am really looking forward to it.

“When they are roaring you on and supporting you it’s a nice thing to have. It can push you that extra yard sometimes and can make a big difference.”
