The unveiling of the Sproson statue
November 2012 is a special day in the history of Port Vale Football Club – the day that finally saw the unveiling of the Sproson statue – a tribute befitting of a great man, his brother and nephew and all made possible by the fans.thSaturday 17
Years of hard work by Port Vale supporters saw a dream finally come true when the statue was at last on view in front of the official entrance at Vale Park.
For the fans and by the fans, the statue is not only a tribute to the Sproson family, but also to the Port Vale supporters who made the whole thing possible.
Some were at the forefront, but they won't want to take all of the credit as they know and acknowledge the part played by so many of their fellow supporters.
Some have gone around raising huge amounts of money, others may have donated the odd pound here and there, or whatever they could afford, but they have all played a part in making the dream come true.
Port Vale Football Club salutes each and every one of you.
