A look ahead to Port Vale v Torquay United

Vale take on Torquay United here at Vale Park on Saturday afternoon (kick off 3.00pm) in what is even at this stage of the season a big game for both clubs.

The Valiants have had a solid start to the season, winning two of their opening three matches, scoring three in each of those two games and are keen to continue in the same vein against the Gulls.

Torquay sit just one point behind Micky Adams men and are unbeaten in League Two up to now after one win and two draws.

Boss Martin Ling will be going all out to improve on what finished up as close call last season and many an expert are tipping his side to be there or thereabouts at the business end of the season.

The Gulls took three points from the Vale last season. The two sides drew 0-0 here at Vale Park back in November and were beaten 2-1 at Plainmoor in March.

Micky Adams has more or less a fully fit squad at his disposal after both Gareth Owen and Rob Taylor continued their rehabilitation with a game for the reserves at Mansfield earlier this week.

Torquay have doubts over winger Danny Stevens, who is recovering from a thigh strain. It is an ‘outside possibility’ he will be fit for the game at Vale Park.

Don’t forget to pick up a copy of the new Port Vale programme ‘In Black & White’, which is packed with new features this season.
