Regis reflects on his Vale debut

8 November 2017

New Signing, Chris Regis, has expressed his delight after scoring his first-goal for Port Vale last night.

The former Arsenal youngster scored four minutes into his debut last night as the Valiants defeated Crewe Alexandra in the final group game of the Checkatrade Trophy.

After training with the squad for just under a week now, the 20-year old said he felt welcomed by his new teammates as he came in on such short notice.

“I haven’t even had a week here!” said the box-to-box midfielder.

“I’ve had about five or six days now, they are all good lads and have all looked after me.”

Talking about his goal, Regis was happy to get off the mark for his new side after leaving Colchester United back in January. He also explained what his targets are whilst being a Port Vale player under Neil Aspin.

He said: “I was in the right place at the right time.

“I’ve got myself a goal as the team worked hard, everyone worked hard as we got a result from it.

“Personally, I just want to play in as many games as possible because I’m a young lad. There’s a few players who have a lot of experience in the midfield and are older than me. I just want to get out there and show everyone what I can do.”

Speaking about the manager himself, the 20-year old expressed his admiration for Aspin as he rewarded Chris with a professional contract until the end of the season.

“I like him, I like him a lot,” said Regis.

“He knows what he’s doing. He’s sharp and good with the lads as well as team-bonding.

“Everyone is good with him.”
