Port Vale Academy visits Staffordshire University

Port Vale Academy visits Staffordshire University

Port Vale Academy players paid a visit to Staffordshire University last week to learn the value of a university degree.

The object of the visit was to give our future prospects opportunities to find out about the value of university education with particular emphasis on sports courses.

This visit organised by one of the club's main sponsors, Staffordshire University, emphasises the need for all young people within our football academy  to consider applying for courses, including those specialising in sport, within higher education.

Chris Taylor, Head of Education and Welfare Officer for Port Vale Academy, was happy with how the day went.

"It was a great day, it's important to give the younger players an insight into the prospect of attending university. This initiative mirrors the vision of the Football League.

"They have aims to give all young footballers aspirations for their futures and the opportunities available post 18. "

The National Collaborative Outreach Programme Hub Officer at Staffordshire University, Emma Ikoku said she was extremely impressed with the attitude of the academy players during their visist.

"The boys were a credit to the academy. They were polite and engaged throughout, which was fantastic.

"The academics were equally pleased that yesterday was so well recieved."

Staffordshire University will next be our match sponsor on March 20th when we face Exeter City at Vale Park.
