Port Vale’s James Plant was voted as Player of the Match by Nantwich Town supporters on his debut for the South Cheshire side on Saturday afternoon.

Plant started for the Dabbers, who are managed by former Valiants defender Ritchie Sutton, and impressed on the left side of midfield after completing a work experience loan ahead of the match with Whitby Town at the Weaver Stadium.

Nantwich were on the end of a 2-0 defeat and Plant will look to help the Dabbers get back to winning ways when they travel to Hyde United on Tuesday evening.

Defender Derek Agyakwa didn’t feature in Chorley’s National League North win over Gloucester City, having made his Magpies debut last week in a 9-0 Emirates FA Cup Second Qualifying Round win against Liversedge.

Goalkeeper Lucas Covolan played the full game as Chesterfield secured an important 2-1 at Maidstone United, keeping the Spireites at the top of the National League table.

Elsewhere, Academy goalkeeper Reuben Perry wasn’t involved in Alsager Town’s FA Vase defeat at Racing Club Warwick, though the youngster has impressed in league fixtures for the Bullets.

Perry made his debut earlier this month as Alsager defeated Abbey Hulton United in the North West Counties Division One South, before keeping his first clean sheet in a 1-0 win at Maine Road in which he was named as Player of the Match.
