Just three days after our win in the north east we're straight back into the action as we host Bristol Rovers on Monday

Ex-Premier League midfielder Joey Barton is in charge at Bristol Rovers having joined in February of this year. Barton’s managerial career began at Fleetwood Town in 2018 before departing three years later. He would only spend a month out of work before joining Rovers but failed to keep them in Sky Bet League One last season.

Man with the Armband

Scottish midfielder Paul Coutts captains the Pirates. He spent his youth career at Aberdeen before moving to Cove Rangers in 2005. Three years later he travelled south of the border to join Peterborough United. He went on to play for Preston North End, Derby County, Sheffield United, Fleetwood Town and Salford City on loan before joining Rovers this past summer.

Coutts has made 41 appearances in all competitions scoring once, claiming one assist, 8 yellow cards and one red. He was sent off in the opening game of the season away to Mansfield Town in a 2-1 defeat. His one goal this season came in the Emirates FA Cup against Peterborough United in a 2-1 defeat.

19-year-old midfielder Elliot Anderson spent his youth career at Newcastle United and remains there whilst on loan at Bristol Rovers. Anderson has made one Premier League appearance for Newcastle as an 87th minute substitute in a defeat to Arsenal.

He joined Rovers in January of this year and has scored five goals whilst assisting three times. The Scotsman scored the winner in Rovers’ previous game at home to Salford.

Top Scorer

Aaron Collins is Bristol Rovers’ top marksman with 13 goals to his name in all competitions. His last goal came in mid-March where he grabbed a brace against Harrogate Town in a 3-0 win.

Last time out and recent form

Bristol Rovers have won three, drawn one and lost one of their previous five games. The loss came away at Carlisle United with the draw also coming in the road against Tranmere Rovers. They defeated Northampton Town 1-0 before winning at home to Bradford 2-1. In their last game they hosted Salford City.

As previously stated, Elliot Anderson won the game on 75 minutes in a game where the home side had 16 shots against the Ammies.
