Port Vale have been drawn at home to Shrewsbury Town in Round Three of the Checkatrade Trophy, and a date for the tie will be confirmed in due course.
Sam Ricketts' newly inherited Shrews progressed through the group stages with eight points after a penalty shootout victory over Manchester City U21s, which they then followed up with wins against Tranmere Rovers and Crewe Alexandra.
They edged past fellow Sky Bet League One side Walsall in the Second Round at the New Meadow to set up the clash with Vale, and both clubs will be vying for a place in the Quarter Finals.
All Checkatrade Trophy fixtures are scheduled to take place during the week commencing the 7th January 2019, and once the date of the match has been set, tickets details will be released.
