Super Vale Abroad initiative recruits former Vale player

The Super Vale Abroad Initiative (SVA) was set up earlier this year by a number of exile Vale supporters from around the globe. It has been successful in sponsoring numerous families to attend Vale home games so far this season and is pleased to announce the latest exile to join the SVA group is former Vale player Danny Sonner who now lives in the USA.

The midfielder made 75 appearances for the Vale between 2005 and 2007 and is in a select band of footballers who played in all four top divisions in this country.  He made over 400 appearances in an 18 year playing career which included 11 League Clubs, a 3 year spell in Germany and 13 international caps for Northern Ireland.

Danny moved to the USA in 2014 and is currently the Head Coach of Savannah United in Georgia.

“I have fond memories of my time at the Vale and I am delighted to join the SVA group” Danny said.

“I have been really impressed with the work of the group in raising funds to enable families to attend games and will be doing what I can to help the initiative to flourish”.

Patrick Scragg, originally from Light Oaks and who now lives in the Central Coast, Australia is the leader of the group and originator of the Super Vale Abroad concept.

“It’s great to welcome another Vale legend into the SVA group. Danny has expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative and his involvement will definitely help to raise the profile of SVA and hopefully encourage greater participation by exile supporters.”

“We have already managed to turn an idea into reality and with support from ex-players like Danny we hope to be able to attract improved funding so that more families can take advantage of the initiative”.

Any exile Vale supporter who wishes to join the SVA group and make a contribution towards the initiative is invited to contact Patrick direct via email at supervaleabroad@hotmail.com or through the group website https://www.supervaleabroad.com
