Morecambe vs Port Vale

Tuesday 17th October 2017

Globe Arena

Sky Bet League Two

Preview

Port Vale will hope to make it two wins on the bounce tonight as they travel north to face Morecambe at the Globe Arena.

Manager, Neil Aspin, will be looking to make tonight’s game his second win as Vale boss following his appointment two weeks ago.

The Valiants just sit just one spot outside the relegation zone and will hope to start their catch-up mission with the rest of the league with a win tonight.

The Opposition

Morecambe would have wanted a better opening 13 games going into the new League Two season as they currently sit 20th in the table.

A 2-0 win over Chesterfield at the weekend eased the minds for The Shrimps as they hope to kick-start their season. Although, they finished 18th last season, Morecambe will hope to have a much-improved campaign with hopes of a mid-table finish for many seeming realistic.

Manager, Jim Bentley, is slowly becoming one of the longest reigning football managers in the Football League as he has enjoyed a near eight years at the Globe Arena.

Talk

Ben Whitfield: “We will approach it the same way, go again and another three points would be nice to push us up the table."

Jim Bentley: “Saturday’s win was really important and although there were a lot of positives there were a lot of areas for improvement too that we have been working on.

“We need to start picking up results consistently and we need to get a run of wins together to see us start climbing the league so it’s a big week for us.”

Team News

Port Vale remain without Anton Forrester, Rob Lainton and Kjell Knops who are long term injuries for the club. However, they could welcome back Cristian Montano to the side for tonight’s game.
