Strikers Give Page ‘Food For Thought’

25 April 2016

Port Vale boss Rob Page says the performances of JJ Hooper and Theo Robinson against Rochdale have given him food for thought.

The duo each netted in the emphatic 4-1 win over Keith Hill’s side at Vale Park on Saturday afternoon.

They replaced regular strike partners Louis Dodds and Ajay Leitch-Smith, who both missed out through injury.

Speaking to Valiant PlayerHD, the manager was delighted with how Hooper and Robinson took their chance with both hands.

“It was an opportunity for them two to go and show what they’re all about,” he began.

“JJ has shown glimpses when he’s come off the bench what he’s capable of doing. He’s not had the same impact when he’s started games but he did today.

“I thought he was excellent. Working with Theo as well, they’ve both got pace, we thought that was an area we might be able to exploit and hurt them.

“We matched them up in the middle of the park but still had the width out wide. When you’ve got pace in JJ and Theo up top you’re going to be a threat.

“We’re disappointed to lose Ajay and Doddsy because they’ve brought the most goals this season but it was an opportunity for someone else to come in and have a go and they’ve certainly given us food for thought.”
