Goal Of The Month March Voting Open

1 April 2015

Pick Your Favourite Via Social Media

Port Vale’s Goal of the Month competition for March is now underway with fans able to register their vote via social media.

We’ve whittled the options down to four strikes and we want you, the supporters, to have the final say on who wins the gong.

To take part simply head to the club’s official Twitter feed and ‘favourite’ the goal of your choice. Voting will close on Wednesday 8th April at midday and the winner will be announced shortly after.

Below are the four goals we’re asking you to pick from.

Goal A: Mark Marshall vs. Coventry City

Having been 1-0 down at the Ricoh Arena, Vale fought back well to level things up through Tom Pope before Mark Marshall and Michael O’Connor linked up brilliantly just inside the area to carve out the goal which gave Rob Page’s side the lead. The duo performed a neat one-two before the winger slotted the ball inside the near post.

Goal B: Michael O’Connor vs. Coventry City

An exquisite free kick from outside the area, this goal earned Vale three vital points at the Ricoh Arena. The Valiants had been pegged back after Mark Marshall had put them ahead but it didn’t take long for Michael O’Connor to restore the lead. The midfielder strode up to the ball, curled it around the wall and into the bottom corner – cue mass celebration from the 1,700 travelling Vale fans.

Goal C: Louis Dodds vs. Crawley Town

A night to forget for Vale with this well-taken strike by Louis Dodds one of the few bright sparks. The forward was handed his first start by Rob Page since returning from injury and he repaid the manager with a brace in the opening 45 minutes. Adam Yates fed Mark Marshall on the right, the winger danced into the area and laid the ball off to Dodds, who stroked it across the ‘keeper and into the opposite corner.

Goal D: Chris Birchall vs. Leyton Orient

This goal capped off a dominant first half Vale performance at Brisbane Road. Michael O’Connor received the ball in midfield, spotted Chris Birchall’s run and played a pass over the top for the winger to run on to. The former LA Galaxy man took it in his stride before finishing into the bottom corner.
