Grimmer ready for Orient

Defender wants Vale to go on a run now

Defender jack Grimmer is well aware of the problems tonight’s visitors Leyton Orient can poses here at Vale Park and is ready to play his part to keep them at bay.

He admits Vale were probably not at their best on Saturday until the second half against Carlisle, but was happy to get the three points which will hopefully now kick start Vale’s season once again.

He said: “You want three points, however you get them, especially when you are in a bad run of form. Everyone was happy after the game that we got the win, especially coming from one-nil down.

“Maybe it is a biased opinion, but I would say they scored against the run of play in the first half. We played well and felt unlucky to have gone in one-nil down.

“Leyton Orient had an unbelievable start to the season and any team is bound to drop their form, but they bounced back and they are still in the hunt for promotion.

“They will be hoping to come here after their draw with Notts County and get the three points.

“They have a good strike force and that is part of the reason they had such good form at the beginning of the season, because they were playing good football and scoring goals.

“They don’t have just one proven goal scorer, they have got a handful of players who on their day can score goals and change matches for them.

“I think that is why they have turned their form around again and they are still in the hunt for promotion.”
