Help for Heroes Fixture
Today is our designated Help for Heroes fixture, where we recognise the sacrifices our veterans gave in protecting our country.
Fans can show their support by making donations to Help for Heroes bucket collections which will be in and around the ground today.
Help for Heroes help the Armed Forces community live well after service. Life can be tough when a military career comes to an end, especially if it has been cut short by illness or injury. Overnight, people lose not only their job, but also a support network that is like family. There are many ways we help veterans, their relatives, serving personnel, and people who worked alongside the UK military. They help people with their physical and mental health needs, and a range of welfare issues.
Their support gives people the skills, confidence, and knowledge to make a success of life in the civilian world. Their teams can help people get back on their feet, if they are having money problems, need somewhere to live, are struggling to get a job, or don’t know how to apply for benefits. They run sporting and social activities across the UK, and online, to combat loneliness and isolation. We provide financial grants for things such as home adaptations and medical equipment, to help people overcome challenges from illness or injury. Their free online courses and self-help guides give people life skills so they can live independently. It’s an injustice that people don’t get a fair deal from the country they risked everything for. That's why they campaign relentlessly to call on Government and society to do better by the veteran community.
When a conflict ends, for some the battles don't stop. Help for Heores support veterans and their families by giving life-changing support, no matter when or where they served.
