Signed for Port Vale during the opening few weeks of the 2018/19 season, on loan from Blackburn Rovers.

The box-to-box centre-midfielder has been representing Blackburn Rovers since the age of six and went on to sign his first professional contract with the Riversiders in December 2015.

Looking for first-team football, Hardcastle joined Salford City in September 2015 where he went on to become an integral part of the 'Ammies' outfit - so much so, his stay in Manchester was extended by three months. Whilst playing at Moor Lane, he helped his side reach the second round of the FA Cup, after defeating Notts County 2-0 in the first round.

Once his time with Salford was up, the young midfielder returned to Blackburn where he continued to represent the youth teams, including captaining the under-23 side to the Premier League 2 Division 2 title at the end of the 2017-18 season.

Hardcastle is a versatile midfielder who can play in both attacking and defensive roles in the centre of midfield.
