Anthony de Freitas
Date of birth
Previous Clubs: Monaco II, Monts d’Or Azergues Foot, Varzim
Previously capped by France U20’s, Anthony de Freitas completed his first season in English football during the 2016/17 League One campaign after being signed from Monaco during pre-season.
Originally born in Lyon, the 23-year old enjoyed his youth years with Monaco until 2012 where he signed his first contract with the second team. Throughout his three years in the South of France, Anthony made over 30 appearances for Les Blouges et Blancs, scoring one goal. He was also loaned out to Monts d’Or Azergues and then Portuguese side, Varzim.
In the LigaPro, the midfielder made 19 appearances in his first professional season. He has also won two caps for France U20, one of which came in a 3-0 loss to Congo in the Jeux de la Francophonie as they were knocked out in the group stages.
de Freitas will be looking forward to grasping life in England further as he hopes to sustain a regular spot in Michael Brown’s starting XI. His energy in midfield can also be used out on the left-side of defence and midfield as he could turn out to be an important player this campaign.
