After progressing through the academy system here at Port Vale, Gibbons' impressive performances for the youth team were rewarded with a professional deal in 2016.

In September of that year, the defender joined Northern Premier League side Leek Town on a one-month loan deal and that allowed him to experience senior football for the first time.

Gibbons then made his first-team debut for Vale on the 4th of December 2016 as a substitute during a 4-0 FA Cup victory over Hartlepool United at Vale Park.

Capable of playing at both left-back and right-back, 'Gibbo' has proven to be a versatile option for the Valiants and he has featured regularly during the last few seasons in Sky Bet League Two.
